Deerwalk is pleased to announce the 1.4 release of Makalu, our analytics platform. This release consists of the following major features:
The Makalu Dashboard now contains top 10 graphs for Benefit Categories, Diagnosis Groups, Procedure Groups and Place of Service with a slider effect displaying the top 10 reports for respective graphs. The header contains the application details and processing information for the Client.
The Healthcare Trend report is divided into Medical and Pharmacy reports which shows the details of periodic and monthly analyses of the members’ demographics and medical claim information for selected 12 month time periods. The report results are based on medical claims, pharmacy claims and eligibility for employees, spouses and dependents. Results for the prior time period are provided for period-over-period comparison of results. All information contained in these trend reports is based on a paid or incurred basis.
Medical Claim lag report
This report shows medical claim lag over the selected 12 month period. This report can be used in estimating expenses for incurred but not yet reported claims during a selected time period.
This report presents information on paid claims by benefit category during the reporting and comparison periods. Benefit plan design during the reporting periods can have significant impact on the report results. As benefit plan changes are made, this report can be used to evaluate effects on dollars paid by benefit category.
Lab Module – Data Search
The ability to use actual lab data/results in data filtering and analysis had been implemented in Data Search for the 1.4 release. It contains data from all lab claims. Searching with member ID, provider, test type, test name, service date and observation values is available to the user. Similar to existing Data Search medical, pharmacy and eligibility search modules, the lab data search capabilities also include the ability to create and save filters, sorting, Summit and export to Excel features.
Risk Distribution Report
This report provides an overview of group risk by age, gender and relationship. The Plan's results are provided for easy comparison of group results with the overall plan average. Average risk is represented by a score of 1.0 with risk increasing as the score rises above that value.
In statistics and demography, a cohort is a group of subjects who have shared a particular event together during a particular time span. Member Cohorts in Makalu is a feature which allows users to group a list of members who share common criteria and filters. Member Cohort is designed in a way that the original cohort list can be saved for reuse by the client over time. As members are added or removed from the original cohort they are listed as such for the user.
