Deerwalk has partnered with Claros Analytics to launch a new tool, along with additional enhancements, with this month’s release of Plan Analytics, the flagship population health analytics and reporting application. Below is a summary of the new or updated features in Plan Analytics version 8.8:

  1. Plan Design Module
  2. Provider Quality
  3. SumIt Data Search
  4. Additional Updates

1. Plan Design Module

We've incorporated Claros Analytics' actuarial models into our application to offer a "Plan Design" module. Clients who have access to this module can use it to better understand how changes to plan design will impact utilization and financial outcomes.

You can run “what if" scenarios to calculate the most likely cost and cost-sharing outcomes based on adjustments made to plan design. Proposed plan changes can be compared with a hypothetical “current state,” or existing plan design for a population. As a shortcut, you have the option to quickly load a population's demographic values directly from the data lake in order to run scenarios on existing groups for which data is already available in Plan Analytics. In addition to demographic information, various elements can be input into a proposed scenario, including plan parameters such as deductibles, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums, medical and pharmacy copays, and more.

The results of the analysis will return a high-level financial impact summary (anticipated net impact), visual charts showing a side-by-side comparison of the current plan (Base Case) versus the proposed scenario, and a table that breaks down the underlying financial components. A list of the proposed changes and a Plan Design Summary will be displayed along with the results for quick reference. You also have the option to save different scenarios so they can be easily shared with clients or stakeholders.

2. Provider Quality

To be more accurate in our naming, the "Provider Quality" reports have been renamed "Hospital Quality" as these reports allow you to evaluate the quality and/or cost of care at inpatient facilities for hospitals and physicians associated with those hospitals. In addition, the labeling of the four quadrants in the quadrant charts has been simplified to be more straightforward and a legend has been added next to the charts to allow for easy comprehension (i.e., you no longer have to hover over a data point to view the clinical category).

3. SumIt Data Search

The SumIt data search tool has been enhanced with the addition of searchable "Summarize By" and "Value Field" columns for greater flexibility. All fields are now displayed, including custom user defined fields (UDFs). These columns behave like the "Create" module by automatically pulling in any field that is exposed in the data.

4. Additional Updates

  • Per feedback from our clients, we've increased Plan Analytics export limits so that you can now export up to 500,000 records at a time (this is double the previous limit).
  • We've refreshed the user interface for the creation of Advanced Cohorts from within the Cohort Management tool and added administrative user privileges that allow the option to change the owner of cohorts.
  • We've revamped date filtering within Executive Analytics to match the date filtering functionality that already exists within Plan Analytics and Report Manager. The updated date filtering still allows you to use named date periods like in the Report Scheduler.
  • For those clients who currently use the default report bundle cover page, the look and feel has been updated to make it more dynamic.
