Deerwalk hosts first-ever user group conference

Last month, over 140 people from around the country gathered in Boston for Deerwalk Ascend 2019—our inaugural user group conference. The event gave us the chance to bring our clients together to get to know each other, share success stories, provide input on how we are doing, receive additional training, and hear our plans for the future.

The event took place at The Hotel Commonwealth, which is the official hotel of the Boston Red Sox and features a new meeting space area with plenty of natural light and outstanding staff. The 2.5-day event allowed time for learning, entertainment, and networking with colleagues. From photo booth fun to a tour of Fenway Park, clients and Deerwalk staff alike had a blast (as evidenced by the event photos). Below are some highlights from our time at Deerwalk Ascend 2019.

Day 1 | Wednesday, October 9

Deerwalk Ascend 2019 commenced with a Welcome Reception for guests as they began to arrive in Boston. In addition to a photo booth with Deerwalk-themed props, there were food and drinks aplenty while mentalist Bob Garner engaged attendees with his fascinating skills.

Day 2 | Thursday, October 10

Thursday was dedicated to the General Session, emceed by Deerwalk's Chief Growth Officer, Tim Huke. The agenda included an array of topics, presented by members of the Deerwalk Executive Team, Deerwalk clients, and industry leaders, including Marilyn Bartlett (State of Montana Commissioner of Securities & Insurance), Jessica Brooks (Pittsburgh Business Group on Health), and Shane Wolverton (Quantros). They shared success stories and use cases that illustrated how implementing data analytics can help address many of the problems facing the healthcare industry today.

After the General Session wrapped up, attendees convened in the hotel lobby to head over to Fenway Park for the evening event. This included a guided tour of Fenway Park, followed by a private dinner and drinks at the State Street Pavilion Club. Those who weren't ready to end the night joined the Deerwalk team for a "Deercrawl" along Landsdowne Street, home to many historic bars and nightclubs. (Fun fact: some of the buildings on this street were originally constructed by Eban Jordan, founder of the Boston Globe, to house his delivery horses, carriages, and trucks).

Day 3 | Friday, October 11

The final day featured 10 Deerwalk platform Learning Labs, which offered conference attendees a more in-depth look into the use and application of several Deerwalk tools and solutions. Deerwalk staff from the Account Management and Product teams presented on topics ranging from Deerwalk's custom report generation tools (Template Manager and the Create Module) to Plan Design Modeling and machine learning.
