Deerwalk is proud to announce enhanced features of Plan Analytics, the flagship population health analytics and reporting application, with version 7.6 released earlier this week. With 7.6, the application will now report age and gender adjusted benchmark values to give customers higher quality comparisons of patient populations and provider performance.
The more time I spent in the field this past spring, the more I heard from both existing and potential clients about the need to analyze plan allowed amounts against Medicare pricing equivalencies. It's no secret that employers, brokers, consultants, TPA's and health plans are all considering various reference-based or Medicare-based pricing strategies in their plan designs. Whether considering a total PPO replacement, a narrow network strategy complemented with Medicare pricing wrapped[...]
Our customers can enjoy the benefits of true Big Data Technology with Deerwalk's Reporting and Analytics platform, Makalu. It allows users to select a section of any population and produce analytics for that selection on the fly. The population can be selected using one or more of the following criteria:
Population health management is needed today if employers, health plans or ACOs want to manage rising healthcare costs by keeping members healthy. Healthcare managers need to pay different levels and types of attention to different groups of people inside the populations they manage. Once people are put into different groups based on the kind of care they need (wellness management, chronic disease management, acute care, etc.), the members in each group need to be managed in such a way that[...]
For the last couple of years our team have been working very hard to prepare a complete solution set for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). We now have the pieces together to provide end-to-end solutions to ACOs. As we all know, ACOs need to digest information from discrete sources like EMRs, Lab, Hospital systems, Claims systems, PBMs and so on. The saying "Healthy living leads to healthy thinking" is clichéd but should not be ignored. One con of working in most IT companies that employees have to sit down in front of a computer for prolonged periods of time leading to serious health problems in the long run.

After our long conversation, Mr. Pandey finally offered me a five-week summer internship position at his software development company, Deerwalk Services. I gladly accepted but then was told that this job would be in Nepal. Many thoughts[...]

On Saturday, June 15, 2013, twenty-six Deerwalkers hopped in the vans and headed to Kakani for a management workshop. Our arrival brought with it a stroke of luck: the rain had lifted and we were able to begin the day’s program outside with some team and trust building exercises. First “The Human Knot” to encourage teamwork and group listening, then “The Gauntlet” to show the importance of trusting one’s colleagues and finally a blind-folded relay race. If nothing else, the games broke the[...]
